Guide

How to add a WhatsApp button to your website

Four steps, no developer needed. You can change the number later in your dashboard without touching your site.

  1. 1

    Have your WhatsApp number ready

Use the number of your WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business account, with the country code. Spaces, dashes and the plus sign are fine, the button keeps only the digits.

  2. 2

Create a contact button in Swoopkit

Sign up, create a Contact button widget, add WhatsApp as a channel and enter your number. Add Messenger, Instagram or phone if you like.

  3. 3

Pick a color, corner and invitation

The editor preview shows exactly how the button will look on your site.

  4. 4

Paste the code into your site once

Copy the line of code with your site key from the dashboard and paste it into your site: in the custom code settings of Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow or before the closing </body> tag.

    <script src="https://swoopkit.app/loader.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY" async></script>

One code for all Swoopkit widgets. If you add stories or a pop-up banner later, there's nothing more to paste.

Placement

Where to place the WhatsApp button

  1. 1

    Bottom right corner

The usual spot for a chat button: visitors find it without thinking.

  2. 2

    Bottom left corner

When the right side already has a cart, live chat or a “back to top” button.

Questions about the WhatsApp button

How do I add a WhatsApp button to my website?

In Swoopkit, create a contact button, add WhatsApp as a channel and enter your number with the country code. Then paste one line of code from your dashboard into your site, once.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. The button opens a chat with any WhatsApp number, personal or WhatsApp Business. You reply from the app as usual.

Can I have a WhatsApp-only button?

Yes. With a single channel, the button opens the WhatsApp chat directly, without a menu.

What happens on a computer?

WhatsApp opens the chat in WhatsApp Desktop if it's installed, or offers WhatsApp Web in the browser.

Does it work with Shopify, WordPress and Wix?

Yes. The code goes into your site settings or a custom code block on Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and any website where you can add a snippet.

How much does it cost?

The first 3 months are free, no credit card required. After that, $7 a month or $15 for 3 months, and the plan includes all widgets: contact button, stories and pop-up banner.
